Sacred Cow Barbeque

Mon Mar 2, 2009, 4:08 PM
I've told myself that I needed to write a little more. So if I'm going to work on my writing, it's gotta be something worth it.

We've been confronted with a multitude of things that are untouchable. For whatever rationale, whatever convoluted thought process, you cannot talk of them in a negative context. As soon as you do, someone begins screaming a variation of "WHERE DO YOU GET OFF?!" Not only do people defend these sacred cows, they will defend them to the death, throwing reason to the wind in the process. And did I mention that these blessed bovines can be anything? A person, a television show, a fandom, an idea. ANYTHING! You see the problem.

Now, these untouchable whatnots don't get raked across the coals enough in my opinion. There are tons of reasons for this, mind you. Some are moral based (Not speaking ill of the dead or someone within earshot), some are sanity based (Why argue with someone who won't listen?), and many more bordering on the well thought out to the absurd. They've multiplied. Without the natural predator of common sense about to hunt the numbers down, we have something of a corralling problem.

So what do we do with all these sacred cows? They're wandering about the world, eating all the grass and dotting the landscape with their holy shit. They're out there slowly decreasing the national IQ by even suggesting that there might be subjects out there that cannot be argued against. What a load of bull.

So that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to start putting them down with a quick shot right between the eyes. So be ready, be afraid, and beware. I'm looking to whip up a juicy rack of common sense with a tasty vitriol sauce.

See you later...
